about

A collection of Irish pub songs, ballads and obscure numbers I have learned over the past 5 or 6 years.

I was asked to play at The Economy Shoe Shop this past St. Patrick's Day (2015) and thought to myself, "well they're not quite an Irish bar" So I thought I'd class up the show a bit and asked my friend Ellen Gibling join us on harp.

We practice a couple times then did the gig. Afterwards I thought why don't we make a record of the songs we learned instead of just letting them disappear with the wind. We practiced once more and went into the studio.

All told, this was recorded live off the floor in about three hours. At The Echo Chamber, in Halifax, Nova Scotia with Charles Austin engineering. We did about 13 songs the first day. 7 were good. And later, we redid 5 that weren't. One got cut altogether.

For that session I asked Glenn Coolen to come play whistles and pipes. An hour and half later we were done.

Hard copies are available where ever I happen to be playing.

about

Dusty Keleher Halifax, Nova Scotia

Dusty Keleher writes songs that tell a good story and searches out gems from the past that do the same.

Simply put, roots/traditional music that takes its cue from ancient Irish ballads and songs from the folk/rock canon. Original modern day tales on subjects far and near. From whatever genre and tradition he draws on, Dusty brings a heartfelt soul to all the songs he sings.
